The Masahiro saga continues as there are rumors that the Hardcore Champion refused to board the plane two GS73. That would definitely explain why he did not show up at and why speculation has started about his future.
Masahiro is said he feels that he is not being treated properly ever since he won the title. Especially considering he didn’t sign a long term deal of any kind. He gets paid per appearance and that’s all he expects. But, obviously the company doesn’t feel that way from their side.
So, why was Valora added to the match? WMW is looking to do what they can to remove the title from Masahiro as soon as they can. And, the main reason being that she never lost her #1 Contendership when she drew against him just a few weeks ago.
The company definitely sees great potential in her. And since they are pulling for more female competitors, they could use another strong female wearing another title.
It’s been said a handful of WMW talent have been pushing management to bring a more MMA fight style back to the company — a style that’s been predominantly missing since Guy Kinski left in 2006. All though nothing has been set in motion, there are rumors floating around that the Shoot Title could be brought back as early as High Stakes 2009.
Sources within WMW say that the main reason for Vyper’s spotty appearances and spaced out bookings is due to an injury Vyper suffered a few months back. Vyper has been plagued with issues with his right knee, which has kept the wrestler from being as active as he was when he first returned in ‘07. Doctors say Vyper should take time off to recover, however, with his obligations as the Great Lakes Champion, Vyper is unable to do so until he has lost the title.
Vyper has received much criticism from WMW higher-ups and other wrestling organizations for his lack of in-ring time. Many people feel that Vyper hurts the business by being displayed as the top dog in WMW without being an active member of the roster. Vinny Vegas has shot down such criticism by stating the quality of matches Vyper has given the WMW fans every time he has stepped into the ring.
With Vyper’s contract up in March, it is in question if WMW will continue their commitment with Vyper. At this time, the Great Lakes Championship is Vyper’s ticket to a renewal, as the company will not want to get rid of their top champion. However, it is rumored that if AWS Man wins the championship at WMW’s upcoming PPV Ides of March, a renewal will not be on the table for the blue demon.
Since the news that Wrestling Midwest would be opening a Development team in the hopes of scouting out future stars for the company, there have been a lot of rumors floating around about who could be the next big thing.
WMW rocked the boat with announcements of three new Development deals being handed out, but word has it that the officials have not stopped there. Apparantly, basic deals have been offered to Romeo Storm and Sean Valentine, The Love Machines. Lee “Highlight” Reil, fans are not to confuse him with brother Jayson who had a stint in Wrestling Midwest winning Mall Brawl and the Shoot Championship. The CTJ formerly known as Crazy Tramp Jak and JPWP pair, Jun and Jin Saito.
Jun made an appearance on Graveyard Shift [72] in a losing effort to Sam Hershey, rumor has it that the Saito Twins will be at Graveyard Shift [73] as guests of Mr. Johnson in an attempt to bolster relations between WMW and Japan. WMW originally had Masahiro Kojima down as the spokesperson, but due to his unhappiness with the organization as of late, he refused and went to work some dates with JPWP.
More on the Development contracts as we get it.
Masahiro complained that he wasn’t getting the proper treatment from the fans or the company. But, he didn’t win over any fans during his shoot promo at the beginning of Graveyard Shift 72. Not only did he receive more boos from the crowd, but rumors are flying that General Manager Dress was told to fire Masahiro and strip him of the title right then and there. Obviously, she did not, but that doesn’t mean he’s in the clear. Expect management to opening punish Masahiro this week.
Current WMW Hardcore Champion, Masahiro Kojima, has agreed to work some dates in his homeland of Japan. All though the company sees this as them reaching out to Japan, some feel that Kojima may never return.
Kojima’s first match will be in a JPWP Heavyweight Title match on Wednesday 25th February against The Great Hiroko.
Masahiro is belived to be angry with the news of a Mexican link for WMW and explained that he would rather work in Japan than for a company who hold down Japanese talent. Masahiro has recently been furious with his position in the company and especially unhappy with the match against Sam Hershey at Graveyard Shift [72].
There are reports that Kojima is leaning towards not returning to the States if he does wins the JPWP Heavyweight Title, however expect WMW to counter offer a long-term contract if they can.
News coming out of Cleveland is that Wrestling Midwest have formed a talent link with an unknown Mexican promotion. There has been small hints that WMW would be making ties with either a Japanese or Mexican promotion after Ides of March, but nothing was finalized.
Now it appears that a deal has been done and many of the pro-Japanese members of the WMW roster are unhappy with the decision. Could this be a problem for Wrestling Midwest, or will it benefit the company? Is it even true? Only time will tell.
Amariie’s contract expires on February 15th, 2009. There have not been a lot of reports that she has been unhappy ever since signing her contract, mostly because of she feels disrespected by the others in the back. Expect an announcement within the next week.
Rumor has it that WMW will be bringing back the official radio show and podcast. It has not been determined if wrestlers or front office staff will be on it, but there’s definitely talks of bringing in more media.
Preliminary work is being done to compile a possible Benny Tyler: Best of the Interviews DVD. John Squires, Stephen Squires and Stephen Tyler are all rumored to take part of it, as well as Brad Johnson, but nothing has been confirmed.
Dress is in hiding due to a mistake with her most recent dry cleaning. It is also rumored she needed the dry cleaning due to some late night tryst that resulted in photographs.
Rumor has it Valora has been dealing with major ribbing from some of the WMW locker room. Last rumor of a prank was that someone had defecated into her gear bag, and had not noticed for three weeks.
A sober Umbrage is rumored to have demanded his release over recent mentions of signings. This seems odd, as he is on a per appearance basis, but more if the rumor unfolds.
Fans who have been frequenting Cleveland area gyms have been reporting seeing various WMW talent in their workouts. A number of fans have mentioned a limping Jade, due to an ankle injury she is possibly hiding from management.
That’s right, apparently after the match at the Graveyard Shift [67], both Jade and Sam Hershey were spotted in the nearby KFC, purchasing a “bargain bucket” between them. No word has been received from either employee, but how will their match at Blizzard have affected this possible relationship?
That’s right, our very famous x-rated superstar has taken up a new interest in the form of producing! His new title “Harry and the Bendover-and-takersons” is going to be released in mid-February. Who will star alongside Harry in the film? Well, someone tells me that AWS Man has been reportedly spotted enquiring about the position.
Blizzard saw the match between DUI and The Barbarians scrapped, but for what reason? Sources have told me that DUI were busted on the way to the arena, both being four times over the legal limit. Could this spell the end for DUI in Wrestling Midwest? Or will Mr. Johnson stick by his employees on this one?
Kronin’s contract expires on January 15th, 2009. There have not been a lot of reports if he will be returning or if he plans on going back on the road with his band. Expect an announcement within the next week.
Currently, Mr. Johnson is involved in a heated legal battle over the company rights with Scott Vyper. Vyper claims that he won the company in a card game with Mr. Johnson, however knowing what a respectable individual Mr. Johnson is, I very much doubt this! Nice try Scott!
